Privacy Policy — CatalogGuard

Last updated: September 23, 2026

CatalogGuard is a Shopify app that scans a store's product catalog to detect data issues (missing weight, image without alt text, invalid price, permanently out-of-stock listing, duplicate SKU or title, missing SEO metadata, thin description, product with no image or no collection, inconsistent weight units across variants). This policy explains what data CatalogGuard accesses, stores, and what it never does.

Who operates this app

CatalogGuard is developed and operated by Oussama Elayouchi. For any question about this policy or your data, contact: distrimanager2026@gmail.com.

Data CatalogGuard accesses

The app only requests the following permissions, strictly necessary for it to function:

CatalogGuard never accesses any customer data, order, or payment information. The app is read-only: it never modifies your products, inventory, or any other content in your store.

Data CatalogGuard stores

This data is stored encrypted on the app's hosting infrastructure (Fly.io) and is never shared with a third party, sold, or used for advertising purposes.

Retention and deletion

Data tied to your store is automatically deleted within 48 hours of the app being uninstalled, in line with Shopify's compliance requirements (shop/redact webhook).

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Since CatalogGuard never collects any personal data about end customers, customer data access or erasure requests (customers/data_request and customers/redact webhooks) are automatically handled: there is nothing to provide or erase, since nothing about your customers is ever collected.

For any question or request about your store's data (domain, scan results), write to distrimanager2026@gmail.com.

Security

All communication between CatalogGuard, Shopify, and your browser is encrypted over HTTPS. Access to the Shopify API uses Shopify's standard OAuth authentication.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the version in effect.
